Meet Our Winners

Shawn F. – 11 days

1st Place Winner: $300 to charity of choice

1. Which cause have you chosen for your charitable donation, and why is it important to you?

I’ve opted to keep my chosen charity private.

2. What’s next for you in terms of fitness or personal challenges? Do you have any future goals or adventures on the horizon?

What’s next is honestly the same as last time.  I am just going to keep doing what I am doing for as long as my knees hold out.  I just generally run with no plan other than for pure enjoyment.  The more the better.  No goals other than to lose a few more pounds in the process.  Of course, that means battling every single holiday-based urge.

2nd Place Winner: $200 to charity of choice

1. Which cause have you chosen for your charitable donation, and why is it important to you?

I’ve chosen to donate my prize money to The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA). The ASPCA was the first humane society to be established in North America and is, today, one of the largest in the world. The ASPCA’s mission, as stated by founder Henry Bergh in 1866, is “to provide effective means for the prevention of cruelty to animals throughout the United States.”

3rd Place Winner: $100 to charity of choice

This one was extra special to me because we lived in Highlands Ranch, CO for 7 years! It was fun to reminisce at different check points. This is a picture from my in-laws’ house in 2013 which backs to the McLellan Reservoir in beautiful Littleton, CO!

1. Which cause have you chosen for your charitable donation, and why is it important to you?

The charity I chose is Tunnel to Towers Foundation. Since 9/11, Tunnel to Towers has been helping America’s heroes by providing mortgage-free homes to Gold Star and fallen first responder families with young children and building specially-adapted smart homes for catastrophically injured veterans and first responders. They are also committed to eradicating veteran homelessness and helping America to Never Forget September 11, 2001. As a wife of a veteran this cause is important to me for so many reasons but mostly because I love our country and am so grateful to those who have gone straight into the danger without hesitation and to all the amazing strong families that support them.

2. What’s next for you in terms of fitness or personal challenges? Do you have any future goals or adventures on the horizon?

What’s next for me in terms of fitness is to encourage my now two teenage daughters to join me in the fun! Walking just 10,000 steps a day provides so many lifelong benefits and is such a great way to connect with them and get some fresh air and Vitamin D.
