Key Factors that Impact your pay as a Travel Nurse

Location
The specific location of an assignment will heavily impact your pay. Vacation destinations and other highly desired areas influence the going pay rate. It’s important to note that pay rates often reflect the cost of living in the area.

Specialty
The travel nurse specialty also impacts pay. Non-specialty nurses such as medical/surgical, psychiatric or home health are typically paid a lower rate than specialized nurses. Furthermore, specialized nurses with highly sought-after skills such as an ICU or OR nurse will get paid more as these specialties are in high demand.

Shift
Night shift assignments are more prevalent in the world of travel nursing. Many hospitals will pay more and offer a higher rate for night shift assignments. If you want to earn more money, flexibility is important.
